A sitemap and storyboard are essential elements of the planning stage of any website. They do not have to be pretty. Chances are you won't be showing your sitemap or storyboard to anybody unless you're getting paid to design a web site. I usually create my sitemaps and storyboards using paper and pen, and you can do the same.

You will need to upload your sitemap and storyboard to your website and put a link on your portfolio page to them. If you create your sitemap and storyboard using paper and pen or pencil, you will have to scan them. If you create them using some sort of software, you can simply save them as images.

A sitemap is a graphical representation of your file structure. Actual file names should be used, including extension. A storyboard is a drawing of your basic web page layout. If your web site uses only one layout for each page, then your storyboard only needs to be one page. If your website uses two different layouts, then you'll need to create two storyboards.

Below are some examples of a sitemap and storyboard for the Mickey Mouse sample lesson.
